Skin softening, but doesn’t remove makeup

I am a big fan of this brand overall and decided to try this cleanser for my sensitive, combination skin that has hormonal breakouts and dry patches simultaneously. This creamy cleanser is helpful for regulating the sebum levels in my areas are hydrated- no more flakes and no more oil! However, it’s not great at removing my CC cream so I do use a micellar water as a first step, then this, then a hydrating toner. The “trick” to using this to get my skin so soft is to gently massage it onto dry skin with dry fingers for a solid 3-5 minutes and then use just the smallest amount of water to begin the removal process. For example, after massaging into skin I get my fingertips wet and keep making circles all around my face - this loosens all the dirt debris gently so I am not stripping my skin. Then I dampen one of my bamboo washcloths to fully remove the rest, using a fresh cloth each time. Thanks to The Ordinary for using a minimal amount of botanicals and zero fragrance of any kind!!!

Formula Change

I've been using this cleanser for the last two years and it has worked beautifully for my sensitive acne-prone skin, until I opened my last bottle, I noticed that the smell/texture seemed a bit different than usual but thought nothing of it. After just one use, my skin became SO inflamed, red, itchy, and rough. I kept using the cleanser as I wasn't sure what was causing it and was really trusting of the product which made it worse and completely destroyed my skin barrier :( My skin was stinging all over, and my face swelled so much that I could not open my eyes or my mouth. It's been 3 days since I stopped using it (after I saw other similar reviews and realized the issue) and the effects have only just started going down. I'm really sad about this formula change as this used to be my absolute favourite cleanser ever, and not sure why it would be changed as it was genuinely a 5-star product, I'm wondering if there is any way to get access to the old formula? :(

It’s def a good oil cleanser that melts makeup, but it takes such a long time to melt in your hands

Reaction to cleanser

I really loved this cleanser and have used it for 2-3 years but recently I have been getting something my dr said was contact dermatitis around my eyes (roughy, itchy, inflamed). I hadn’t done anything new with my skincare and could not work out how it was happening until I stopped using this cleanser. I had cut out the ordinary hylauronic around my eyes, and also the moisturiser from the ordinary around that area too, but thought that because the cleanser was washed off, it was safe to keep using. Unfortunately I was wrong. Very disappointed as would have expected a heads up about a changed formulation, and also I’ve never had sensitive skin so a bit concerned that something that could affect skin like mine is being sold for those with sensitive skin.

Best cleanser!!

4th time buying this cleanser, it’s so effective on my acne prone skin without drying it out. A tube lasts so long because you barely need any. I often skip make up removal and just use this.

Ditch the tube, please!

Amazing cleanser, but I absolutely hate the container. So much so that I stopped buying the product.

Very good for skin prone to redness or dryness.

I love this cleanser. It doesn't dry my (dry) skin out, but doesn't clog it either. I can appreciate some people are having reactions to it, but I haven't found that at all. I have sensitive skin that can flare up and turn red with the wrong product. But with this cleanser there's no reaction. I highly recommend it, especially for the price point.

Good forming cleanser

I was a fan of The Ordinary wash! It is definitely on the gentle side for foaming cleanser, and worked great on my combination skin and left it feeling refreshed.

Just under okay

Normally a big fan of the ordinary, but this cleanser was…..just under okay. I don’t think it does much more than if I had just washed my face with water alone. It doesn’t wash off my sunscreen, has a not great (tolerable) smell, and leaves my skin feeling around the same.

Excellend but tricky to start with

hmm, have to admit that didnt understand how to use it at the beggining. Product must be massaged into the sking long enough to change from cream into oil. But when it changes omg that is when magic happens. Cleanses so good, as never any product before. washing off, well that you must learn too, clue is to use right ammont of cleanser so it cleans vell and wash off completly. Overall great product , cleansing and moisturising the same time

Packaging issue

First time buyer here and I've been using the product for 4 days now. So far I love it and feels great on my skin. However, I receive barely any product in the packaging. Instead of 50ml it seems that I only receive roughly 20ml. I'm not sure if other customers are facing the same issue. I just feel disappointed as it feels like they've mislead me. If I'm purchasing a 50ml product, I expect to receive 50ml product. Anyway, first photo and second photo are 4 days apart.

Buen producto pero poca cantidad

Este producto me ENCANTA para mi rutina de skincare, pero creo que viene muy poca cantidad de producto, lo que hace que se gaste en un poco rango de tiempo. Me gustaría que existiera una opción más grande o ampliaran la cantidad que viene.
