We previously bought the Born in Roma Ivory release, and both of us still agree Ivory had the edge overall for us personally. That said, Valentino Donna Born In Roma Purple Melancholia and Valentino Uomo Born In Roma Purple Melancholia deserve respect in their own lane. This limited-edition line feels darker, smoother, and more atmospheric, with a moodier aura that stands apart from some of the other Born in Roma releases. Valentino’s own positioning leans into memory, introspection, and emotion, and that really does come through in the scent profiles.  The Donna version comes across as rich and elegant with a soft plum sweetness and vanilla depth that gives it a deep, feminine, almost melancholic feel without becoming too heavy. The Uomo version is smooth, aromatic, and very wearable, with cardamom, lavender, and a creamy coconut accord that give it a slightly mysterious edge while still feeling masculine and refined. Those note structures are a big part of why this pair feels so distinctive and atmospheric.  What I like most is that this release has its own identity. It does not feel like it is trying to be Ivory, and I think that is why it deserves to be appreciated on its own terms. Ivory may still be our favorite, but Purple Melancholia feels more introspective, more atmospheric, and more about mood. The purple bottles also fit that darker aura perfectly.  Since this is a limited-edition release, I really do think it is worth picking up before it is gone. It feels like the kind of line people will look back on later and wish they had grabbed while it was still available. Easy 5 stars from both of us.

I love this product ever since I got it. It smells amazing and it is truly a great fragrance for the winter.

A good everyday cologne

[I received this product in exchange for my honest review] The Valentino purple is a good choice for a summer everyday fragrance because you really get the lavender and the spicy cardamom in the opening but with it’s dry down you get more of the coconut and a bit of the amber wood. But the only thing I don’t like about the cologne is the it doesn’t lasted long, it lasts for like 4 or 5 hours but it’s still a good cologne.

Best perfume

The scent is slightly sweet, a little spicy, and has a buttery/ coconut base. The silage has lasted me well over 12 hours!!

A smooth modern scent!

Right off the top, you get a spicy cardamom hit that gives it that immediate “designer but elevated” vibe. As it settles, the fragrance softens into a smooth lavender heart, keeping it clean but not barbershop-basic. The real twist is in the base—creamy coconut mixed with warm amber and woods, which gives it a slightly sweet, almost addictive dry-down without going juvenile

A Wonderful Fragrance

Great scent, but doesn’t last as long as the og.

I received this product for free from Influenster in exchange for my honest review. I’m a big fan of Valentino fragrances, and this one is a great addition to the lineup. Like others in the Born in Roma collection, it has a sweet, slightly floral scent that’s perfect for a date night or night out. I actually wore it on Valentine’s Day and my girlfriend loved it. The bottle and packaging both look premium and feel premium, which adds to the overall experience. The initial strength and projection are great right after applying, but it doesn’t seem to have the same longevity on the skin as the original Born in Roma, which I prefer overall. That being said it does last a long time on clothes. I could still smell it a week later after applying it on a shirt. Overall, it’s really nice experience that I would recommend, especially if you enjoy sweet, modern scents.
