10% Vitamin C Brightening Serum - Sérum iluminador con 10% de vitamina C

Reaction

Received as a sample and suffered a skin reaction 24 hours later. Itchy red skin and swollen eyes similar to other reactions in the section.

Allergic reaction

I normally use the mad hippie vitamin c but bought this one as part of a bundle. Unfortunately my skin had a terrible allergic reaction to it similar to the other reviews and I had to throw it away. It started as redness and then had pustular bumps and is now extremely dry while it’s healing. I feel like it’s worth mentioning that I have never had a reaction like this and my skin is not normally sensitive to products.

Emergency room visit due to this product

I ended up in the emergency room due to this product. I initially wasn’t aware it was this. But my eyes swelled up and I had bumps all over face and neck with intense burning. I was told not to apply any skincare for a few days and given steroids to counter the reaction. After my face cleared up I used it again, not knowing it was the cause and the same thing happened. I discontinued using and again my face cleared up. Then I tried to use just a tiny drop mixed in with my moisturizer, and yet again had a reaction around my eyes nose and mouth, not as severe as the other times. My skin is never sensitive to serums/chemical exfoliants so I know that’s not the issue. I’ve also used vitamin c serums religiously for the past few years. It’s definitely this product

Do not use it if you have sensitive skin

Please be careful when using this product as it can cause a red face, white acne, and puffy eyes. I initially thought my pollen allergy was severe and causing this reaction. However, it turned out to be a bad reaction to the product. It will take a few days to calm down. On the first day, my left eye became puffy and my face turned red. On the second day, both of my eyes were puffy, and I developed white acne. I also used eczema lotion. If these symptoms occur, it is better to cool down the affected area and go to the hospital if necessary. I received oral steroids because my reaction was quite severe, and I felt better in two days. I hope this helps someone experiencing a similar allergic reaction.

This is the only vitamin C product that doesn't wreak havoc on my skin. I've noticed a huge difference in my skin since I started using this and even my facialist said what a drastic improvement it's made since I've started using it.

Sticky?!

Wow, this product is horrible. I put it on once and immediately washed it off and started my skincare over. It’s weirdly sticky. The bottle also doesn’t work well. No thanks.

Irritated my eyes

This serum irritated my eyes and the skin surrounding it. They are swollen, red, itchy, and burnt. I won’t even be able to go to work because of it. It looks like I got punch in both eyes.

This burnt my under eyes in seconds

I just purchased this product and applied it to clean dry skin. The directions say to apply to fave and neck. It literally started stinging immediately. Only under my eyes. I washed it off instantly but could feel that my under eyes were raw. They were so pink compared to everywhere else. The next morning they were both swollen. Even my eyelids that must have gotten some on them during the washing process. This happened 2 days ago and my under eyes are now very dry and I look 100x older because of the dryness and they feel sunburnt. Please be careful using this product. I have never had a reaction to skincare so my skin is not sensitive to anything but this stuff. The photo on the left is me 2 days after using this product. The photo on the right is what I normally look like. This pic was taken a day before using the product.

Awful

Did they change the formula on this? I used a bottle last year and it was fine. I bought a new bottle late 2023 and my skin has been a nightmare. I thought it was tret - I stopped all actives for 6 weeks, my skin barrier healed and I introduced this back first. Two days later and my skin is red, inflamed, and awful.

Burned my skin

I love this line but this product burned my skin like a chemical peel. It has taken weeks to recover and the barrier is still damaged. I wouldn't recommend this at all.

I've used this every morning for over a month. The hyperpigmentation on my face is lightening over time. I'll try it for 3 months to see if I notice a bigger difference.
