Increase Whiteheads and Imbalance

I’ve been using The Ordinary for several years and have generally had good results with their products, especially the Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% and Salicylic Acid 2% Anhydrous Solution. I have combination skin, so I decided to try the Balancing & Clarifying Serum a few months ago after it was recommended for my concerns: congestion, dullness, and uneven skin tone. Unfortunately, this was not a good match for me. Since starting, my skin has actually worsened. I’ve developed more whiteheads around my nose and other areas, and my skin now feels both oily and uncomfortably dry after cleansing. Even when I tried using the serum on its own, there was no improvement. At this point, I’m considering visiting a dermatologist for help and may need to take a break from The Ordinary altogether (even though I just received my package) to explore other brands that might work better for my skin.

Works great with rosacea acne!

I bought this 2+ months ago and LOVE it. I have acne flare ups caused by hormonal changes throughout the month and I have rosacea acne. Because of rosacea, I started slow so I could gauge my skin’s reaction. I used it three times the first week with no issues, so I increased to every other day. No problems! Now I use it once per day and I love it. No irritation, just clearer skin! I’ve also noticed that my nose and center forehead, which can get oily, don’t anymore. This is the first product I’ve found that targets acne and doesn’t irritate my skin. I love it!

I would definitely repurchase this

I absolutely loved this serum, the ingredients were on point. It had no scent. The packaging was luxurious and overall I think it was very effective at maintaining clear skin

Didn't help acne/congestion, balanced oil

This definitely helps control the oil, but to the point I need to use a heavier moisturizer. Didn't impact my acne (no increase or decrease) and didn't change the appearance of my pores and blackheads. I've never run out of a serum so quickly and that's part of why I won't rebuy, especially at this price point for this brand.

A really great, affordable serum!

I've been really enjoying this new Balancing and Clarifying Serum by The Ordinary! I like that they're affordable, and their packaging is nice and simplistic. I didn't notice much of a scent. The texture is really nice - not too thick, but not too thin. It felt good while being applied, and it absorbed pretty quickly. I haven't been using it long enough to really notice any results, but I do like this serum enough that I'll be using it until it's gone! I don't really have blemish-prone skin, which is who this would be best for, but I do get hormonal acne, and I'm excited to see how it'll help me next month! Fingers crossed! I think it's gonna work well, because the ingredients are pretty great! If you're looking for a high quality serum at an affordable price, and if you're having trouble with blemishes, then this is the perfect skincare product to add to your routine!

Used the whole bottle and saw no difference. Will not be purchasing again.

The packaging of this product was perfect. I love the scent and the way it makes my skin feel. Product ingredients are truly organic. I am 100% satisfied with this product!

On second bottle hoping for better results.

I’m on my second bottle of this Balance and clarifying serum. I have oily skin and I purchased it because my skin becomes very shiny. I can say that this has not minimized the shine in my face. My face still becomes very oily rather quickly after my skin regime in the morning. As far as improving pore appearance. I would say it fails at that as well as my pores have not improved, even after going through one bottle completely. I decided to purchase a second bottle, hoping that this term takes time to work on reducing shine and improving pore appearance. If after this second bottle, I see no improvement. I will not purchase again.

Acne clearing and moisturizing

Honestly this really helped clear up my stubborn acne while also keeping my skin hydrated (for my morning routine, I've only been using this on top of a toner, but occasionally I'll put copper peptides on top of it if I'm feeling saucy). I use both morning and night.
