I’ve been using the Drunk Elephant Virgin Marula Luxury Facial Oil for years, and it’s hands-down the best facial oil I’ve ever tried for my sensitive, acne-prone skin. This product is a staple in my nighttime routine, and I can’t imagine my skincare without it! I mix a few drops with Drunk Elephant’s Lala Retro Whipped Cream (their thick moisturizer) at night, and the combo is pure magic for hydration and calming my skin. The oil has a lightweight, silky texture that absorbs quickly without feeling heavy or greasy. It’s packed with antioxidants and omega fatty acids, which I think are key to why my skin wakes up so soft and less inflamed. Unlike other oils that clog my pores or trigger breakouts, this one is completely non-comedogenic for me—it’s the only oil I trust not to cause issues. Yes for oily skin!!!!!!

I have VERY oily skin and somehow this balanced this with an AMAZING glow!!!!!! Most face oils give me weird acne bumps but this doesn’t!!! Would 100% recommend except it takes a while to sink in.

Transformed my dry, congested skin

I’ve been struggling with textured, sensitive, congested skin for forever. Lately it’s gotten to the point where any foundation I wear looks awful, including extremely hydrating bb creams and tinted moisturizers. Because of the acne, I’ve always thought I had combination skin, but I also have a sensitive, dry scalp, and lately prewash oils have soothed my scalp brought the life back to my hair again. So I thought maybe my skin is actually dry too and needs oils. After trying this for a week, my skin is already completely transformed and looks like actual skin again. I’m so happy with how my skin is feeling and looking! I use this oil after Fresh soy face wash and before FAB ultra repair cream, and every other night use Paula’s choice toner before the oil to help exfoliate (about two years ago, I simplified my routine a lot to try to give my skin a break). Others may not need a rich moisturizer on top of this like I do. It feels very moisturizing on its own.

Best face oil

I use this after the Drunk Elephant Baby Facial. It soaks right into my skin leaving it radiant. I also use it on elbows and knees for extra moisturizing. It’s not greasy and absorbs quickly.

Great for my oily combination sensitive 44 yo skin

Love this oil! On my fourth bottle. I have sensitive skin that usually reacts to anything natural or fragranced. In winter or when I need some extra moisture, I add a drop or two to my usual moistirizer and it’s amazing. At night I use it with my prescription retinol. I wake up glowing with no peeling or redness.

Slightly comedogenic, broke me out

I understand that skincare is highly individual and that this product may work beautifully for some, but I wish I had done more research before trying it. While marula oil is generally considered low on the comedogenic scale, it’s still higher than I’m comfortable using on my face. Unfortunately, I wasn’t aware of this before trying it. I also found the absorption to be uneven, and it didn’t seal in moisture effectively, which led to breakouts after just a few days. For those with similar concerns, I’d recommend opting for a non-comedogenic, more occlusive product like tallow (I use grass-fed & finished suet, and it has cleared my skin completely) or jojoba oil. Both have worked well for me when applied after essence or moisturizer and have never caused breakouts.

Don’t get this if you have oily skin

I was soo excited to use this but it just didn’t work out. It broke me out and made my skin really oily. So if you have oily skin just please don’t get this.
