I didn't know what shade to get because I was never to makeup when I got this. I ended up getting the translucent shade. my skin tone is deeper than than but not super deep and I would say that getting and actual shade is better for some people if you're not going to get a pressed powder as well or you want to use this on other parts of your skin. you may end up looking lighter than you planned. this product really has a learning curve. I grew to like it after trying it out multiple times and finding out the best method of use but I didn't like the the first few times using it. I felt like my concealer was creasing and I felt too light.
