Stinks but works

Smells disgusting but it works. I have drier skin in the winter and this helps my makeup go on more smoothly. It smells like old musty plastic so if you’re sensitive to smells then don’t get it because it’s really strong

I have combination skin, and after using this product my makeup gets very flakey and separates on my skin.

Perfect as a primer!

Another Merit win! I only use this when I’m wearing makeup as a primer, I wouldn’t use it as a daily moisturizer especially at its price point. But sits really nicely under makeup and isn’t greasy or irritating

Smell is terrible

I got a sample of this product as part of one of orders and I couldn’t get passed the smell. It smells really bad, I thought the smell was going to disappear after a few minutes but it stayed throughout the whole time I was wearing until I washed my face.

I wish I read these reviews before buying the mini bottle. Smells horribly, like hair dye. my makeup looks nice and dewy though, but I won’t keep using this due to the smell.

Smells Awful

I like the moisturizer, but it smells like car wash soap (and not in a good way lol). It’s bizarre. As a longtime Merit fan, I’m surprised they even have this on the market.

Omg smells so bad

I couldn’t leave this product on for even 10 mins because it smells terrible like strong chemicals! It smells like a cleaning product not something that should be put on your face. I won’t be using this

Not For Me - And Probably Not Anyone Else

I was excited to try this to replace my beloved Bobbi Brown primer. I don't love fragrance in my face products, but this smells affirmatively bad - like melted plastic - making the experience of putting it not enjoyable. I could get over the smell if the performance were extraordinary, but I don't find that to be the case. It is not as moisturizing as the BB, though it has a thicker texture. The texture has body (whipped but stiff?) and is not very emollient, but somehow also has a greasy (not oily) feel. It does soak into my skin well, but leaves a fine layer of grease on my skin. For reference, I have combo and acne-prone skin that is well controlled under my current skincare routine. I didn't notice that this helped the longevity of makeup applied over top, but the layer of "moisture" did help the appearance of my base makeup. I would say having this under my makeup was better than nothing, but nothing about the application or wear is pleasant for me, so I won't be repurchasing.

Returned

I’m a dry acne prone girl and this did nothing for me. It didn’t feel hydrating and had a very earthy smell that seemed to get worse through the day. The serum is great though!

The nose knows

This is the rare primer/ moisturizer that doesn't seem to cause breakouts for me. I bought it along with The Uniform, and they really work well together. But the smell is weird and unpleasant, and yes, it does linger. It's pretty disappointing if you're sensitive. But if the smell doesn't bother you, it could be great.

Same as any old moisturizer and makes my skin feel heavy and sticky. I don’t know if I’d repurchase.

Do not buy

Stinks and doesn’t really moisturize. Nothing good to say about it.
