I love this brush but it isn’t absolutely essential. I love the feel and weight and performance but I have other brushes that can do everything this brush does. So while it isn’t necessary it’s still nice. It’s very dense and soft. Cleans easily, buffs very nicely. Feels great against the skin. My other brushes can do everything this brush does but I do prefer the quality of this brush. I love the metal handle and the design. If you’re seeking a travel friendly brush then this is it!

Great purchase

If you want to bulk up your brush set, this is a great key brush. It’s versatile, well made, controllable. The quality is impressive, it’s soft, thick, haven’t noticed any loss in bristles, keeps shapes and am using everyday now. Hourglass does not disappoint, consistent quality and obvious thorough product development. Has encouraged me to purchase more of their brushes.

Great quality versatile brush.

I haven’t quite figured out what this brush is best for yet but maybe it’s because it seems to do a pretty decent job at any task you throw at it. I can say for sure that after several months of daily use and multiple washes, it hasn’t lost a single hair and it’s kept it’s shape. One star off because I don’t feel like it does a five star job of any one task - foundation, blush, finishing, setting, you name it- but it does a solid four star job at everything. If I was travelling this would be the only face brush I’d bring and it’s great for someone who’s beginning to build their collection of higher quality brushes because it’s so versatile and feels soft and lovely. If hourglass maintains the standard of their current brushes then it will be well worth the money in the long run.

Best brush on the market! I use this baby for everything. It helps my powder buff into my skin to minimize the looks of my pores. I have never been disappointed in Hourglass brushes. I have had this brush for about 9 years so far.

Okay so.. yes, this is very expensive for a brush. However, it's been 5 years with washing every other week/week and it is going strong! Worth it.

I found this brush to be larger, fluffier, and softer than a lot of similar kabuki-type brushes. Swirls setting and/or finishing powder across the face delicately and flawlessly, but is still dense enough to apply other products if you'd like (I only use this for setting or finishing powder though). You can certainly get great results with less expensive brushes, but if you use this type of brush every day and want one of the absolute best, I think the No. 7 is absolutely worth the splurge. Especially for brush minimalists.

I’m a big fan of Hourglass (use the foundation, Ambient powder, blush, bronzer and other brushes). However this brush is too bulk and didn’t work for me. Returned it.

My favorite foundation brush

I know this is marketed as a powder/blush brush, but this has turned out to be my favorite liquid foundation brush--and I have many "foundation" brushes. This applies the perfect amount and perfect layer of liquid foundation. I put the foundation on the back of my hand, swirl the brush in the foundation, and apply on my face using a buffing motion (circular). This is the ONLY foundation brush I own where I don't need to go over the foundation with a damp beauty blender after applying with a brush. It just looks flawless after, not streaky, and it's FAST. WOW. I then set with powder using a velour pouf so as not to smear my foundation everywhere. In all, even though this brush is expensive, I would have saved tons of money if I'd just purchased this--and only this--ages ago to apply foundation. Highly recommend.

Finally retiring this magic wand

After multiple years of daily use, it’s time to retire this brush from its hallowed position in my makeup routine. I bought it on my birthday three years ago…boy was I feeling vulnerable that day, and walked out of Sephora with over $350 of product. When I got home I felt so silly for spending $60 on a d***brush, but felt even sillier returning it, so it stayed. If I only knew then… I had no idea that you could love a brush this much. Part of the beauty of this magic wand is its versatility. I’ve used it for every kind of application, from foundation to blush to contouring to finishing powder. There’s no residue between applications, so don’t worry that you’ll accidentally smear bronzing powder all over your face, because you won’t! If you decide to wash the brush (you really don’t have to) I recommend using shampoo and letting it dry for about 24 hours. I’ve been procrastinating on getting a new one because… well $60. However, if you can swing it, you won’t be sorry. It’s definitely $60 well spent.

The perfect finish to your makeup routine

I am in love with this brush and use it everyday. The bristles are extremely soft and feel amazing on the skin'; however they are dense and short so it can be easy to apply too much product. I find it best for overall blending when you are finished your makeup routine and for applying the hourglass highlighting powder. It buffs the skin providing a seamless, even, airbrushed finish. Also easy to clean.
